Laxey Campsite

A spotlessly run village campsite in Laxey with 25 pitches, walking distance to the beach, the Laxey Wheel, and the electric tram into Douglas.

Laxey Campsite sits in the valley heart of Laxey village on the Isle of Man's east coast, managed with obvious care by Denise and Sarah. The site is small (25 pitches, five hardstanding) but punches above its size on facilities: a spotless shower and toilet block, reliable WiFi, and a communal kitchen inside the wash room that has become its own quiet social hub, with tables and chairs where campers cook, share notes on the island, and linger.

The location is the real selling point. Laxey beach is a short walk downhill; the Victorian Laxey Wheel and Valley Gardens are within easy reach on foot. The village has pubs, a post office, a coffee shop, and a skate park. Better still, the electric tram and bus links from the village open up the whole island without needing to move the van: Douglas is roughly 15 minutes, Ramsey the same in the other direction, and the coastal Raad Ny Foillan walking route passes nearby.

All 25 pitches carry electric hookup and water, making this as practical a touring base as you'll find on the island. Pitches are generously sized though uneven in places (bring levelling chocks for the motorhome). Dogs are welcome. The atmosphere is quiet at night, unhurried through the day.

Before you book

  • Pitches are not level on all bays: motorhome and caravan visitors should bring levelling chocks.
Denise and Sarah have built one of the most reliably well-kept small campsites on the Isle of Man, combining genuinely friendly host presence with a village location that makes the whole island reachable without moving the van.
