Askr Grange
Hand-built shepherd's huts and lodges on a working Dorset farm, two miles from Bridport, with open countryside views and a wood-fired hot tub.
Luke and Sammy built Askr Grange with their own hands on Sea View Farm, and that fact earns the place its character. The lodges and shepherd's huts are owner-crafted, the farm runs around you, and the views sweep across open West Dorset countryside from the Jurassic Coast hinterland. It sits inside the Dorset AONB, two miles north of Bridport, with direct access to the Monarch's Way walking trail from the site.
The accommodation is boutique glamping done properly: The Acorn shepherd's hut is well-suited to a couple wanting seclusion; The Drover lodge handles up to six adults across three bedrooms with a large communal kitchen. Both have fire and hot tub access. Paddle board hire is available on site. A local vineyard and cider orchard sit within two miles if you need a reason to leave.
The hosts are present but not overbearing. Guests consistently remark on how secluded the farm feels despite being close to a market town, and on the quality of the fit-out: spotlessly maintained, thoughtfully equipped, with bedding and cooking kit to match.
Before you book
- Access is via single-track country lanes, drive carefully, especially in the dark.
- The wood-fired hot tub is available as a paid add-on; book ahead and allow time for it to heat if you want it on your first evening.
“A genuinely owner-built farm glamping retreat in West Dorset AONB, where the care Luke and Sammy have put into the place shows in every detail. Bridport's coast is ten minutes away; the farm feels a world quieter.”
