Drumroamin Farm Camping & Caravan Site

Drumroamin sits on a working farm outside Kirkinner in the Machars peninsula, a quieter corner of Dumfries and Galloway that most touring campers drive through rather than stop in. The flat grass pitches are kept in genuine condition, the whole site is mown tight and tidy, and the owner presence is the kind you notice: moving a tent to a sheltered spot behind a hedge when a storm rolls in, sorting tent pegs when a guest realises they're short. That kind of attentiveness is the whole thing here.

Facilities go further than the basic scrape suggests. The shower and toilet block is consistently described as spotless; there's a covered washing-up area, laundry machines, and a common room with a pool table, TV, and play kitchen that becomes the social hub when the weather turns. Outside, a sandpit, basketball hoop, and giant Jenga make the site work for families with younger children without slipping into holiday-park territory. Dogs are welcome on leads throughout.

The wider area repays a few days: Baldoon Sands is 2.5km away, the rivers and lochs of Galloway are within easy reach for fishing, and a scatter of historic castles and cycle routes fills out a slower itinerary. The Milky Way is visible on clear nights, which in this part of Scotland means more often than you'd expect. Newton Stewart is the nearest town for resupply.
