Mynydd Mawr Camping
At the very tip of the Llyn Peninsula, this working farm campsite earns its place through sheer landscape: Bardsey Island sits offshore, the Wales Coast Path runs from the gate, and the sunsets do the rest.
Mynydd Mawr sits at the far end of the Llyn Peninsula, one of the most remote stretches of coastline in Wales. The pitch is simple and the ground is honest: undulating grass with electric hookups running at 6 amps, clean toilets and coin showers, and the kind of views that make you forget what you were worried about on the drive down. Bardsey Island hangs off the headland to the south-west, and on clear evenings the light off the water makes a case for staying an extra night.
The Coast Path runs directly from the site entrance. Walk north towards Anelog or south into Aberdaron village, which sits a short distance away and offers a pub and supplies. Boat trips across to Bardsey run weather permitting and can be arranged through the site. The summit of Mynydd Mawr itself, the hill that gives the site its name, rewards the climb with a panorama that stretches across Cardigan Bay.
Owner Robert runs the site with the kind of care that shows: facilities are kept spotless, he knows the area deeply and will point you towards the best of it. The site takes tents and tourers alongside campervans, so pitches see a mix of rigs. The ground undulates enough that campervan drivers will want leveling blocks. The site prefers cash, so come prepared.
Before you book
- Pitches are on uneven ground; campervans and caravans should bring leveling blocks.
- Coin-operated showers (pound coins required); showers run in short bursts.
- Cash preferred on site.
