Cae Du Campsite
A working beef and sheep farm on Cardigan Bay where every tent pitch faces the sea and you can fall asleep to waves.
Cae Du sits right on the coast inside Snowdonia National Park, on a working farm that has grazed cattle and sheep on these cliff-edged fields for generations. The views across Cardigan Bay to Ynys Enlli and the Llyn Peninsula are the whole point, and they're available from every pitch, not just the lucky corner ones.
Stone fire pits are scattered across the fields in numbers that most sites could learn from, and the farm sells firewood and lamb burgers at the kind of prices that belong at a farm gate rather than a festival. The Wales Coast Path passes the site, and the pebbly beach below is a short walk down from the fields. Off-peak, the space and quiet tip this firmly towards the restorative end of the camping spectrum.
Facilities are honest rather than polished: coin-operated showers, clean enough toilets, a water point at the far end of the field. The shower block runs coin-per-go, which can test patience in peak season when the site fills up. Come in late spring or early September and the ratio of pitches to people is a different story entirely. Cae Du earns its place through location and farm character, not spa amenities.
Before you book
- Coin-operated showers (£1 per token) can mean queues and short run-times at peak times.
- The site is exposed on the coast, so expect wind regardless of the season.
“A proper coastal farm campsite in Snowdonia where the sea view is the amenity. Come for the firepit evenings and the Cardigan Bay light, not the showers.”
