Cae Ddel Country Camping
Six-pitch, off-grid field on the Llŷn Peninsula with an enclosed dog run, proper hot showers, and darkness dark enough to catch a meteor shower.
Cae Ddel sits in a natural field on the Llŷn Peninsula AONB, a short drive from Criccieth and within reach of the Llŷn Coastal Path. Six pitches with no electric hookups keep it intimate and genuinely off-grid: the entertainment here is the wildlife, not the wi-fi. Buzzards, herons, barn owls and red kites are all regular overhead visitors, and after dark the site is black enough to watch meteors without even trying.
The owners have clearly thought about what their guests actually need. Showers are hot, spacious and push-button-free; a picnic shelter doubles as a proper dining spot when the weather turns; BBQ hire means you don't have to lug one from home. A fenced dog exercise field and a woodland walk behind the site make this one of the genuinely dog-friendliest small campsites in North Wales. Criccieth is less than ten minutes by car, with shops, takeaways and a large sandy beach good for swimming.
Pitch types include touring, motorhome, a bell tent and a woodland cabin, so you can arrive under canvas or already sheltered. The site welcomes fires and you're encouraged to bring a firepit. Families with young children do very well here: it's quiet, contained and feels properly away from things without being hard to reach.

“A small, honest off-grid field where the owners have spent their attention on the things that matter: spotless facilities, a proper dog setup, and darkness good enough for stargazing.”
