Greenhill Glamping
Two impeccably restored shepherd's huts on a family farm above the Alkham Valley, with private hot tubs and hosts who still deliver breakfast hampers to your door.
Greenhill Glamping sits on chalk grassland in the Alkham Valley, deep inside the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Neil and Wendy run the two shepherd's huts, Shepherd's Watch and Ploughman's, on the farm they know intimately, and the care shows in every detail: wood-burning stoves, spotless interiors, and the kind of breakfast hamper that arrives the night before so your morning is already sorted.
The views stretch across the farmland and down into the Alkham Valley, with Alkham village visible below and the hills opening out in every direction. Walking maps are left in each hut, and the paths lead into ancient woodlands and eventually to a local pub with a roast worth the uphill return. Folkestone Harbour Arm is 11 minutes away for harbour-front lunch; the White Cliffs of Dover and Dover Castle are a 15-minute drive; Canterbury Cathedral around 20.
With only two units on site, the experience is genuinely private. Each hut has its own hot tub and there is no shared communal space competing for the view. The setting is quiet enough that the main draw is the valley itself, the stars above chalk grassland, and a fire pit for the evenings.
