Freshwinds Farm
Family farm in an AONB with proper yurts and a beach nearby.
Freshwinds is a small, family-run campsite on a working farm set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and it does two things well at once. There are 14 generously spaced tent pitches, flat and roomy with real distance between neighbours, plus four yurts and a shepherds hut for anyone who wants a bed, a full kitchen and a hot shower rather than a groundsheet.
The farm is the draw as much as the pitch. A circular trail loops through the fields and newly planted woodland, cows, sheep, pigs and donkeys keep the kids busy, and there is a garden with play equipment, a barn and fairy gardens that families come back for year after year. Fire pits are welcome if you bring your own, wildlife is everywhere, and the whole place runs on space and quiet rather than anything commercial. The village of Pett has a pub and a shop, and the beach is about five minutes away with free parking and a good cafe.
It suits families and couples chasing peace with a bit of coast on the side. Camping runs May to the end of September, with the glamping open from April.

Before you book
- Facilities include drop toilets, which one guest found could get smelly and attract flies in warmer weather.
- Camping runs May to the end of September and glamping April to the end of September, so it is a summer-season stay.
- Fire pits are welcome but bring your own, as it is a bring-your-own-firepit site.
“A peaceful working-farm hideaway where roomy pitches, characterful glamping and a nearby beach all pull their weight.”
