Bluebell Coppice Park
Ten acres of ancient East Sussex woodland where bluebells carpet the floor in spring, the owners know your name, and supper is cooked on site.
Bluebell Coppice sits on 10 acres of ancient woodland outside Battle, the kind of site that earns its reputation through the people who run it. Des, Jules, Archie and the team greet arrivals by name, cook breakfast and pizza on site, and keep an honesty shop stocked with everything you forgot to pack. The woodland does the rest: badgers, foxes, kites and buzzards move through the trees, wild orchids appear in April, and bluebells carpet the floor in May.
The pitch mix is genuinely varied. Hardstanding with electric hookup for tourers, grassy tent pitches tucked into the trees, and bell tents with their own private bathrooms for those who want to step up from canvas. The pitches are spacious enough to feel private even when the site is busy, and the woodland canopy means the light shifts properly through the day rather than blaring down from a flat field.
Battle is seven minutes by car, Hastings Old Town and the beach fifteen. The Plough Inn at Crowhurst is a 30-40 minute walk through the trees or a short drive. For a family base in East Sussex, the location does genuine work: you can do a day at the sea and come back to proper woodland quiet.
