Dogwood Glamping

A quietly owner-run glamping and camping spot in the High Weald AONB, with farm animals, fire pits, and Rye on the doorstep.

Dogwood sits in Brede, a village in the High Weald AONB, about as close to Rye as you can get while still waking up to grazing animals and open fields. The Brede Valley stretches out beyond the site, and on clear days the view tilts toward La Manche. Katy and Phil run it with obvious care: the shared facilities are spotless, the cabin is thoughtfully furnished, and the owners sell their own eggs and vegetables from the land.

The cabin is the main draw for those who want shelter without sacrificing the fire-pit experience. A gazebo sits alongside for lazy mornings, and the pitch area has enough breathing room that the quiet holds. Farm animals wander the site freely, which gives the whole place a genuinely homely texture rather than a polished boutique feel. This is a campsite that also takes glampers, not the other way around.

The location earns its keep. Rye is walkable, Bodiam Castle and Camber Sands are within easy reach, and Brede High Woods and the ancient woodlands of the High Weald make for honest walking country. Country pubs are within walking distance. Hastings and Battle round out the area for a history-led weekend or a longer coastal rotation.

Before you book

  • The path from the car park is unlit -- bring a torch if arriving after dark.
  • Paths become muddy after rain; waterproof footwear is sensible.
Dogwood earns its reputation through owner attentiveness and a setting that trades in real AONB countryside rather than managed lawns. The farm-animal character and proximity to Rye make it one of the better-placed glamping spots in East Sussex.
