Blue Skies Campsite

A compact, owner-run Norfolk coastal site where the Norfolk Coast Path is three fields away and the beach is five minutes on foot.

Blue Skies sits on the edge of Wells-next-the-Sea, a 10-minute walk from the quay, the pubs and the independent shops that make Wells one of North Norfolk's most useful bases. The Wells-Walsingham Light Railway runs right next door; the Coast Hopper bus stops outside the gate. You are, in short, very well connected for somewhere that feels genuinely quiet.

Thirty-eight pitches across 1.5 acres means the site never feels crowded. Owner Chris is consistently on the ground, keeping facilities clean and the atmosphere right: fires are permitted, quiet hours hold from 10pm, and during carnival week the town's parades and concerts are barely a five-minute walk. Holkham Hall is close enough for a half-day out. For dog owners, the dedicated Waggin' Wheel Corner is a thoughtful touch rather than a token gesture.

The shepherd's hut (locally called the Blue Camp Shack) suits walkers doing the Norfolk Coast Path particularly well: a proper bed, gas cooker, bench and decking chair, away from the main pitch area. Facilities throughout are basic but kept to an unusually high standard for the price point.

Before you book

  • Pitches are grass and on a small site, so peak-summer availability is limited, book ahead for July and August.
Blue Skies earns its reputation through owner presence and consistent upkeep: a reliable, well-located base for a North Norfolk week, close to everything Wells offers without being on top of it.

Why it made the cut

  • Owner Chris is genuinely on site and helpful, that hands-on presence comes through in every recent review
  • Norfolk Coast Path and beach access within minutes, without the site itself feeling like a coastal honeypot
  • Fires permitted; the kind of small detail that separates a real campsite from a stopover
  • Dog-friendly by design with a dedicated area, not as an afterthought
