Escape Pods
Whole-site-hire woodland glamping in ancient Norfolk pines, with 18 heated pods and a full adventure activity programme on the doorstep.
Escape Pods sits inside Thorpe Woodlands Adventure Centre in the ancient pinewoods of Shadwell, Norfolk. The site runs on an exclusive-use model: your group takes either the Pine glade, the Oak glade, or both, and for the duration of your stay the woods are yours. Eighteen heated pods sleep groups up to 87, spread across two private clearings, each with its own log cabin, campfire area, and direct access to the surrounding forest.
The adventure programme is properly integrated, not bolted on. High ropes, zip wires, caving, canoeing, archery, and off-road biking all run from the same site. That means your group wakes up, walks to breakfast, and walks to the activity briefing. There is no coach transfer, no faff. Reviews consistently call out the instructors as patient, encouraging, and genuinely good company.
The shared facilities are practical rather than precious: a log cabin per glade with fridge, freezer, microwave, toaster, and an outdoor gas oven, plus shower and toilet blocks nearby. The pods themselves are cosy rather than spacious. You will not have a king-size bed, but you will have warmth, a campfire, and the smell of pines. Communal fire pits anchor each glade for evenings. The site asks for quiet and respectful noise levels, which fits the woodland setting without making it feel policed.
