Trellyn Woodland Camping
A handful of pitches hidden in 16 acres of reclaimed Pembrokeshire woodland, blurring the line between camping and glamping with private firepits, a wood-fired sauna and pizza nights
Listing Trellyn seems somewhat of a tease. There are only a handful of pitches nestled in its 16 acres of woodland, and the overall number of campers at any one time is kept deliberately low. To get in you'll have to book well in advance, but when you get here, maybe not this year or even next, it'll have been worth it. The site has been precisely crafted over the years, the woodland cleared and native trees replanted to create, no hyperbole, a camping paradise. Each pitch boasts its own covered cooking area with campfires positively encouraged, and to start yourself off there's a bag of pre-cut wood waiting to greet you, with more freely available. Every pitch has its own compost toilet and fridge space too, so you rarely need to leave your own little clearing.
Trellyn blurs the line between glamping and camping with a wood fired sauna and a communal pizza oven (Monday is pizza night), and there are kayaks and body boards to borrow for the beaches, over ten of them within easy reach, with the nearest a fifteen minute walk away. In fact, whilst we'd never suggest abandoning the tent, Trellyn also offers beautifully kitted-out yurts and glamping if you fancy a roof and a wood burner for the cooler nights.
Emma and Matt, who run the place now, have a real gift for making guests feel looked after, and it shows in how many people come back year after year. So if you can't bag one of the coveted pitches, this one might just be worth the upgrade.
