Into The Sticks

Five-pitch eco-campsite on a 22-acre nature reserve in Pembrokeshire, where Jo and Kev run the kind of place people return to year after year.

Into The Sticks sits on a 22-acre nature reserve on the edge of the Preseli Mountains, with river and stream boundaries, woodland paths, and dark skies that make the Milky Way look effortless. Five grass tent pitches and one birdhide Tiny Home. That's it. The scale is the point.

Jo and Kev are the kind of hosts who deliver equipment by quad bike and design their communal spaces with actual thought. The activity barn houses fridges, freezers, a pool table, an honesty shop, and a charging station for devices. On-site programming includes bat walks, pond dipping, daily animal feeding, pizza nights, and jacket potato evenings that take the cooking pressure off. Children spend whole weeks running about in streams watching bats and waving sticks, which is more or less the definition of a good holiday.

Pembrokeshire doesn't let you down from here. The closest beach is a 10-minute drive, and more than 25 beaches are within 30 minutes. St Davids and wildlife boat trips to Skomer Island for puffins are under an hour away. A village pub and fish and chip shop are a mile up the lane. The site is open during school holidays only, which keeps the guest profile tight and the atmosphere genuinely unhurried.
