The Barn KT9
A 220-acre working Surrey farm just ten miles from London, where fire pits, shepherd's huts and birdsong do the job that the city can't.
Rushett Farm has been farming arable land in Chessington since well before anyone thought to pitch a tent on it. The 220 acres haven't shrunk, the Nightingales and Red Kites still turn up, and the grass runway used by light aircraft in summer is a reminder that this is a working place first and a campsite second. That order of priorities is exactly what makes it work.
The camping is deliberately small: seven bring-your-own tent pitches in standard and XL sizes, three furnished bell tents, and a handful of shepherd's huts for those who want the farm setting without the groundsheet. Every pitch has its own fire pit and BBQ. Hot showers and flushing toilets are on site. Views look out across Epsom Common, and the sunsets across the Common are the kind that take the edge off whatever the week threw at you.
The Shy Horse stop on the 465 bus puts London a short ride away, and Epsom Common with its Great Stew Pond is on the doorstep for walks. For a site that sits within the Surrey Hills AONB ten miles from Central London, it earns its rural credentials quietly. Open Easter to September.
