Pencarnan Farm Caravan & Camping Site

A 96-acre working farm on Pembrokeshire's westernmost point, where the fields run down to Porthsele Beach and the view opens west toward Ramsey Island.

Pencarnan Farm has been taking campers since 1956, and the location has only got better for the waiting. The site occupies the far western tip of Pembrokeshire, inside the National Park, with fields that either overlook Whitesands Bay or face out toward Ramsey Island and the St Georges Channel beyond. The farm extends right to the high water mark at Porthsele Beach, which is a short walk from the camping fields.

The Pembrokeshire Coast Path runs through the surrounding headland, giving direct access to St Davids Head and coasteering off St Johns Point. St Davids itself is reachable on the Celtic Coaster bus that passes the track entrance from April to October. The courtyard area offers a bar with rooftop seating, a cafe, shop, and pizzeria, making the site genuinely self-contained for a week's stay without a car being necessary.

Pitches take both tents and caravans, with electric hookup available. The site carries a no-dogs policy. Note that the beach field has some slope, so bring chocks if you're in a van. Facilities are a walk from the more remote fields. The coastal exposure is part of the deal here: wind is frequent and the weather can shift fast, which is not a drawback so much as the condition of the setting.

Before you book

  • Exposed coastal site, wind and changeable weather are typical; the beach-view field is particularly open.
  • Caravans and campervans should bring wheel chocks as pitches in the beach field have a noticeable slope.
  • On-site bar and pizzeria operate seasonally and may not be open outside peak weeks; check ahead.
One of the most geographically committed campsites in Wales: the farm earns its place on Pembrokeshire's westernmost edge with direct beach access, Ramsey Island views, and a courtyard set-up that makes a long stay easy.

Why it made the cut

  • The farm reaches the high water mark at Porthsele Beach, as close to the sea as a campsite gets
  • Whitesands Bay and Ramsey Island views from the pitches are the real article, not a distant smudge
  • Working farm independently run since 1956 inside Pembrokeshire Coast National Park
  • On-site courtyard with bar, cafe, and pizzeria plus bus link to St Davids makes it self-contained
