Newbourne Woodlands Campsite
A quiet, adults-only woodland campsite in Suffolk that takes fewer than 20 tents and treats its facilities like a boutique hotel would.
Newbourne Woodlands sits across seven acres of mixed woodland and water meadow on the edge of a Suffolk village, and the owners have built it around one idea: fewer people, better experience. They cap the site at around 18 campers, which means the wooded glades and open meadow pitches never feel shared. You choose your setting on arrival: dappled canopy or open sky, picnic bench by the trees or view across the water meadow.
The facilities are the kind that make you do a double take. Spotless showers, a well-stocked fridge, phone charging and a kettle. A small on-site shop covers fresh fruit, veg, meat, cheese and camping basics, so you can pitch up with little and find everything you need. Fire pits and BBQs are available to borrow, with logs and charcoal on an honesty basis. The three cabins, Kingfisher, Cherry Tree and Hawthorn, are tastefully fitted and positioned for the best of the views: Kingfisher over the water, Cherry Tree and Hawthorn over the meadow.
The surrounding Suffolk countryside earns its keep. Newbourne Springs nature reserve is on the doorstep. Waldringfield and the River Deben are nearby, with canoe and kayak hire available, and Sutton Hoo, Woodbridge market town and Felixstowe Beach all within easy reach. Minsmere, one of the best birdwatching reserves in England, is around thirty minutes by car. The Newbourne Fox, a well-regarded village pub, is 0.8 miles down the road, an easy walk back in the dark.
