Brick Kiln Farm
An off-beat East Anglia site with a star observatory, a pet pony called Snudge and mother-and-daughter hosts who create something beyond the basics yet stay simple and honest
When you walk into Brick Kiln Farm you'll spot two unexpected sights, a star observatory and Snudge the pet pony munching away on the grass. This should be all the confirmation you need that this is the sort of off-beat place that you'll want to spend some time camping in. The site is split between the Meadow, a large family friendly field where kids happily bounce on the trampoline and which offers panoramic views of the Suffolk countryside, or the cosy hedge-lined Orchard. If you fancy a spot of glamping there are bell tents available for hire, or the 70s retro delights of Gloria the caravan.
Sitting between the two fields is a beautiful converted barn that houses a fully equipped kitchen. There's even a selection of board games to while away rainy days and a creative space for painting. All these touches add up to something special, and it's no surprise to discover that mother and daughter team Tina and Sophie are passionate about creating a space that offers something beyond the basics yet stays simple and honest. From positively encouraging campfires to running an honesty shop, Brick Kiln Farm is the sort of place you fall in love with. The generous pitches, spotless showers and covered social area are exactly the sort of thoughtful, well-kept detail that keeps campers coming back. And if things get really serious, Tina can conduct your wedding ceremony, as she's a registered Civil Celebrant!
It's not just on site that everything is perfectly placed. Within a 10 to 15 minute walk from the site you have the Dog and Duck pub, a local village shop and Wickham Market train station. Further afield lies the Suffolk Coast and all sorts of seaside adventure.
