Birds and Bees Campsite

A wildflower-meadow campsite in the Suffolk Alde Valley where every pitch has its own fire pit and the owners actually remember your name.

Birds and Bees sits in the Alde Valley, within easy reach of Aldeburgh, Southwold, Thorpeness, and Framlingham Castle. The site is arranged so each pitch feels like its own small enclosure, separated by wildflower meadow growth rather than fence panels. The result is privacy without isolation: you can hear other campers if conversation drifts over, but you can't see them unless you want to.

Owners James and Emma run the site with the kind of attentiveness that earns returning guests since 2019. Facilities are genuinely good: spotless showers and toilets, fridges and freezers for guest use, a compost loo as well as flush, and an honesty bar stocked with tea, coffee, and local produce. Firewood is available to buy for the fixed fire pits. The pitch count is small enough that the place stays calm, and the no-loud-music-or-rowdiness policy is enforced without drama.

The campsite runs from mid-May to early September and is primarily set up for tents, with a separate Campervan Corner for motorhomes. The Suffolk coast is close enough for a morning run to the beach and back in time for the honesty bar's first coffee.
