Marshford Camping & Caravan Site

Fifteen-pitch organic farm site outside Appledore, a short walk from the South West Coast Path and the Taw-Torridge estuary.

Marshford sits on a working organic nursery on the North Devon fringe of Northam, less than a mile from the sea and two kilometres from the Tarka Trail and South West Coast Path. The location is the pitch: you can walk into Appledore's waterfront in around twenty minutes along the coastal route, reach Westward Ho! in thirty, and catch the Stagecoach 21A from directly outside the site to Bideford and beyond.

The site is licensed by the Camping and Caravanning Club and takes up to fifteen pitches across grass and hardstanding, with electric hookups available. Facilities are deliberately basic: one shower, two unisex toilets, a washing-up area, and chemical and grey water disposal. They are, by consistent account, kept thoroughly clean. The on-site organic farm shop sells seasonal produce and is open Tuesday to Saturday.

Dogs are welcome, with a dedicated dog walk on site and two friendly pubs reachable on foot in the village, one running curry nights on Thursdays and food across the weekend. Owners who visibly care about the place keep it well-maintained and unhurried. This is not a site for facilities maximalists, but for anyone touring North Devon on foot, by bike, or with a tourer in tow, Marshford earns its place on the shortlist.
