Freshwell Camping

Two minutes from Croyde Beach with full bay views across the field, this family-run seasonal site earns its reputation through owner care and a genuinely relaxed coastal atmosphere.

Freshwell sits at the edge of Croyde village with Croyde Beach two minutes walk from the entrance and the bay opening up across the field. The view is there from the moment you pitch. Croyde Village is a ten-minute walk, with pubs, restaurants and cafes close enough to reach on foot without touching the car again.

The atmosphere is sociable and unhurried. Staff camp on site, keep the bathrooms clean through the day, and seem genuinely invested in the place. Evenings bring the occasional live music session and a food truck or bar some nights. The field isn't flat and pitches aren't marked out, so you pick your spot, but the coastal position and the easy access to beach, headland walks and village make it the kind of campsite where most guests barely leave the immediate area.

Tents and small campervans share the main field alongside a small number of bell tents and shepherd's huts along the hedgerows. Fires aren't provided, but you can bring your own firepit. The site runs May to September. No dogs.

Before you book

  • Pitches are unallocated and the field slopes; arriving early on busy summer weekends gives you a better choice of ground.
  • Showers at peak times (around 5pm) can queue; worth timing your wash around it.
The best-positioned tent campsite in Croyde: two minutes to the beach, full bay views from the field, and staff who clearly care how the place runs.
