Cockingford Campsite

A family-run Dartmoor farm where the East Webburn river runs along the boundary and the moors are walkable in both directions from your pitch.

Cockingford sits in the Widecombe valley on a working Dartmoor farm, with the East Webburn river defining its lower edge and views running up to the moor on all sides. The Two Moors Way passes right through, so walkers can step off their pitch and on to the trail without touching a car. Buckland Beacon is within reach for a morning scramble; Widecombe village, with its pubs and the famous market, is a half-hour walk down the valley.

The site takes tents, caravans, motorhomes, and a wooden pod, which sits high enough for valley and treetop views towards Widecombe. Pitches mix grass and hardstanding with electric hook-up available. Facilities are simple but well-kept: clean showers, toilets, WiFi, and a small farm shop for anything you forgot. Dogs come with you, fires are encouraged via bring-your-own firepit, and the pricing stays firmly in budget territory.

Ashburton and Bovey Tracey are the nearest towns for restaurants and supplies, both within easy range. For Dartmoor camping at the quieter, more pastoral end of the spectrum, Cockingford earns its reputation through owner care and a setting that does the work without needing to try.

One of east Dartmoor's most honest farm campsites: river boundary, moor-access walks, and a BYO firepit policy that makes evenings matter.
