Llechwyd Farm Campsite

A working-farm campsite on the River Dwyryd in Snowdonia, where the car-free lower meadow earns its place as the best pitch on site.

Llechwyd Farm sits on 12 acres in the Vale of Ffestiniog, within Snowdonia National Park, on the banks of the River Dwyryd. The lower meadow runs right to the water's edge, and pitches here are car-free: you carry gear in, you get birdsong and river noise in return. Above, the upper field takes caravans and motorhomes with electric hookups, keeping the two areas functionally separate.

From the site you can walk to Rhaedr Cynfal waterfall, through local woodland, or up into the Moelwyns and Manods for a proper mountain day. The Ffestiniog Railway runs on the hillside above the site, and Maentwrog village is about a mile away. Blaenau Ffestiniog, the old slate town, is roughly three miles. This is a campsite that gives you a sensible base, not an isolated one.

Facilities are honest: showers, toilets, electric hookups on the upper field, and a playground for younger children. Fires are allowed with a brought-along firepit. Quiet hours run from 10pm, strictly. The site takes dogs on lead only, and the riverside meadow walks make this a workable dog trip despite the lead restriction.

Before you book

  • Access is via single-track road.
  • Tent pitches in the lower meadow are car-free, requiring guests to carry kit from the parking area.
  • The lower meadow can flood periodically, worth checking with the site before a wet-weather visit.
A family-run Snowdonia campsite with the kind of setting that does the work for you: river on the doorstep, mountains within walking distance, and a car-free meadow that earns its reputation through genuine quiet rather than marketing.
