Hillend Camping Park

Fourteen acres of grass and dune at the foot of Rhossili Down, three minutes' walk from one of Britain's finest stretches of sand.

Hillend sits on the Gower Peninsula, Britain's first designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with the Wales Coastal Path running alongside and Rhossili Bay beginning a few hundred yards beyond the gate. The bay is a three-mile sweep of golden sand bounded by Worm's Head at the southern tip and Burry Holmes to the north, and at low tide it belongs to whoever walks it.

The site itself covers 14 acres of level to gently sloping ground between the dunes and Rhossili Down, the moorland ridge that rises sharply behind. Pitches are generous and electric hookup is available across tent, caravan, and motorhome bays. On-site there is a shop, coffee bar, bar, and restaurant, a playground, and surf schools operating nearby at the main car park. The Gower footpath network opens directly from the site.

Atmosphere leans family and sociable during summer: the beach and surf draw a confident crowd, and the absence of music anywhere on site keeps evenings calm. No dogs are allowed. The no-music rule is absolute, so if a silent sunset is the plan, the site delivers that consistently.

Before you book

  • No dogs allowed on site.
  • No music permitted anywhere on the campsite at any time.
The Gower location carries this one decisively: Rhossili Bay is a rare thing, and sleeping 200 yards from it, with the moorland ridge at your back and the coastal path at your feet, is an experience the scale of the site cannot diminish.

Why it made the cut

  • Direct access to Rhossili Bay, one of Britain's most celebrated beaches, via a short walk through the dunes
  • Wales Coastal Path and Gower Peninsula footpath network accessible from the site boundary
  • Generous pitches across a 14-acre site in a Gower AONB setting
  • On-site bar, restaurant, and shop reduce the need to drive during a beach-focused stay
