Fforest Fields

Five-hundred acres of Radnorshire upland, two lakes you can actually swim in, and 75 years of family farming behind it all.

Fforest Fields sits on a working farm above the Edw Valley, with views across to Aberedw Hill and the Cambrian Mountains beyond. The farm has been in the family for 75 years and the site grew out of it organically in the late 1980s, so the camping and the farm coexist without either pretending the other isn't there.

Five hundred acres gives campers room to breathe. Two lakes anchor the landscape: one for paddleboarding and open-water swimming, one for walking a circuit with the dog. Woodland trails and moorland routes fan out directly from the site, including mountain biking trails, so a full day of outdoor activity rarely needs a car. Sunrises over the valley are regularly singled out by returning visitors as reason enough to come back.

Facilities are a genuine strength without tipping into holiday-park territory. Showers and toilets are clean and free, the laundry block is unusually well-equipped, and a drying room makes off-season camping genuinely comfortable. The on-site cafe serves coffee and cake and doubles as a bar; an honesty shop at reception covers essentials. Yurts are available for those who want a roof, and there are hardstanding pitches for tourers alongside the grass tent fields. Builth Wells and Llandrindod Wells are both a short drive for anything else.
