Digeddi Wildlife Camping
A working stud farm on the Wye where you pitch beside a small rapid, wake to egrets and otters, and have Black Mountains views in every direction.
Digeddi sits on a 10-acre equestrian farm right on the River Wye, a few miles from Hay-on-Wye. The pitches run along the bank above a small rapid, so you fall asleep to moving water and wake up scanning the opposite bank for herons and red kites. The Black Mountains fill the horizon on all sides.
This is a genuinely mixed site: glamping accommodation alongside grass tent pitches, with the farm's horses and goats sharing the backdrop. Owners are present and actively helpful, and the site has an on-site kayak instructor for anyone who wants to get on the water properly. Paddleboarding and kayaking are the obvious draws given the location, but the Wye Valley Walk runs directly past for those who prefer dry feet. The Hollybush Inn is a short walk away for an evening pint.
Facilities are basic and honest: showers and toilets that reviewers describe as consistently clean, portaloos near the far pitches, a kitchen area, and firewood available on site. There is no pretence at luxury here. What you get instead is a working-farm atmosphere, a host who genuinely cares, and one of the better stretches of the Wye for access.
Before you book
- Portaloos serve the far pitches; if you are particular about facilities, ask for a pitch closer to the main block.
- Pot-washing uses cold water only.
“A riverside working-farm site that earns its place through sheer location: the Wye on your doorstep, the Black Mountains on the horizon, wildlife you can actually see.”
