Doxford Farm Camping

A 500-acre working farm in the Northumberland AONB, four miles from the coast and set up for every camping style from grass pitch to hot-tub pod.

Doxford Farm sits on 500 acres of working Northumberland farmland in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with over five miles of on-site walks threading through woodland, lakeside and open fields. Bamburgh Castle and the Farne Islands boat trips are a short drive in either direction; sandy beaches are four miles away. This is countryside with genuine pull, and the farm leans into it rather than competing with it.

The range is unusually wide for a site this rural: grass pitches with electric hookup for tourers, bell tents for those who want a furnished start, and glamping pods at the top end with a freestanding bath and hot tub. Bell tents and pods are laid out with enough distance from the van and tent areas to feel private. Pitches are well spaced, and the site sells its own eggs if you run short at breakfast.

Kath and the team run a contactless check-in with clear instructions and an on-site information cabin, but owner presence is real when needed. Facilities include toilets and hot showers. There are no shops or pubs within walking distance, so stock up before you arrive. Alnwick is 20-30 minutes by car and very much worth it.

Before you book

  • Showers are not heated in cold weather.
  • Grass pitches can be soft after heavy rain; hardstanding is available nearby.
  • No shops or eateries within walking distance. Alnwick and Bamburgh are 20-30 minutes by car.
A proper working farm in one of England's least-crowded corners, with just enough range to suit couples after a pod-and-hot-tub weekend and families who want space to roam.
