Coast & Castles Camp Site

Solar-powered coastal base on the Northumberland coast, a mile from Boulmer, with an on-site bar, visiting food vendors, and the Coast Path from the gate.

Coast and Castles sits on a former RAF admin site just outside Boulmer, a working fishing village on the north Northumberland coast. The 8-acre site runs on solar power and carries a proper coastal brief: St Oswald's Way runs past, Dunstanburgh Castle is within walking reach, and the cluster of beaches at Longhoughton, Seaton Point, and Alnmouth stretches up and down the shore.

It's a family site that earns it. There's a small playground, bell tent glamping alongside standard tent and motorhome pitches, and the facilities are consistently kept clean. The on-site bar adds a social note in the evenings, and food vendors roll in regularly, with a pizza and burger hut that reviewers return to night after night. Self check-in by pitch board means no gate fuss, and the site runs quietly past 10pm without a warden needing to enforce it.

Alnwick is 4 miles away and carries a full day: the castle, the Garden, Barter Books if you like secondhand bookshops on a railway scale, and the Aln Valley Steam Railway. Craster and its kippers are a short drive along the coast. The setting does real work here, and the site is honest about what it is.

Before you book

  • Self check-in only: pitch allocation is on a board at the entrance, no warden on site.
  • Showers can be temperamental with temperature.
A well-run coastal site with genuine soul: solar-powered, bar on site, food vendors most evenings, and St Oswald's Way from the gate. The Northumberland coast does the heavy lifting and this site handles the rest cleanly.
