Culdees Castle Estate sits in Muthill, Perthshire, where a handful of lodges and pods are spread across the grounds of a Victorian castle that Tracey and Rob are slowly bringing back to life. The renovation is ongoing and visible, which only adds to the place's honesty: this is a working project with people behind it, not a finished resort product.

Each lodge comes with a wood-fired hot tub, a fire pit and BBQ area, and basic cooking kit. The tubs are heated and ready from around 7pm, the team does the prep work, and guests are shown how to use them on arrival. Kitchen facilities are intentionally modest (a two-ring induction hob, small fridge, saucepans and cutlery), so this is a site for lingering evenings rather than ambitious cooking.

Peacocks roam the grounds, cats appear at your door, and the guidebook points guests towards Crieff and Auchterarder for dinners and day trips. Afternoon tea is available from Mimi's in Auchterarder. Tracey, Rob, and the wider team are consistently present and responsive. The estate also hosts weddings, so occasional event activity is part of the backdrop.

Before you book

Hot water is limited to roughly ten minutes per person before cooling, so manage shower expectations accordingly.
Gate-code access via a keypad is required to leave the estate in the evening; the team is on call if it causes issues.
Weddings and private events take place on the estate, so the site is not always exclusively glamping guests.
