Chiltern Yurts

Two hand-made Mongolian yurts at the foot of the Chilterns, each with a private bathroom and a fire pit, 35 miles from London.

Chiltern Yurts is as small as it gets: two authentic Mongolian yurts in a tree-lined meadow on the Chilterns AONB fringe near Tring. Hosts Emma and Jim have thought through every detail, from homemade brownies waiting on arrival to breakfast baskets and BBQ boxes sourced with obvious care. Each yurt comes with its own private bathroom just outside (powerful shower, heated towel rail), an indoor wood-burning stove, an outdoor fire pit, and a crown skylight for star-watching from your bed.

The walking here is genuinely good. The Grand Union Canal is reachable on foot, Tring Reservoirs are a short stroll, and the Ridgeway National Trail passes through the landscape. The Half Moon pub and Meads Farm Shop with its tearoom sit across the field in Wilstone village. Tring itself is the local market town, and Berkhamsted is nearby for anything more substantial.

With only two yurts on site, it never feels crowded. The pitches are far enough apart to feel private while still sharing the meadow, and the hosts make themselves available then sensibly step back. This is the kind of place Chilterns walkers, canal cyclists, and couples wanting a considered weekend from London return to.

A two-yurt operation that earns its reputation through host care and Chilterns setting, not facilities volume. One of the most considered small glamping sites in the East of England.
