Nether Oaks Camping

Tent-only oak woodland in East Suffolk where each pitch gets its own glade, a firepit, and the forest to itself.

Nether Oaks sits in an 11-acre oak wood in rural Parham, planted from acorns in 1890, and the trees are the whole point. The site is laid out in separate glades so each party camps in its own clearing rather than in a row with everyone else. No electric hookups, no generators, no noise after dark: the operation is built around the idea that the wood is the amenity.

At the heart of the site a communal area brings everyone together around fire pits and a shared pizza oven, with a washing-up station and a table-tennis table alongside. The showers and composting loos have been well thought through: not afterthoughts but things guests actually mention. Wood is supplied for cooking fires, and each glade comes with a picnic bench, water, and fire-safety kit.

The surrounding countryside gives Nether Oaks real depth beyond the tree line. Framlingham is under ten minutes by car (or a 20-minute bike ride along bridleways), with its medieval castle, pubs, and shops. Three village pubs are within walking or cycling distance via footpath. The Suffolk coast beaches, Dunwich, Thorpeness Mere, Walberswick crabbing, Southwold, and Aldeburgh are all 13 miles east. Sutton Hoo, Snape Maltings, and Minsmere bird reserve are in the same orbit. Wickham Market station is 5.5 miles away.
