Llwyn Celyn Bach
A back-to-basics Snowdonia base where both the Llanberis Path and the Snowdon Ranger route begin at the gate.
Llwyn Celyn Bach sits in the valley below Snowdon in Llanberis, with the north-west face of the mountain visible from the pitches and views across Llyn Padarn opening out at dusk. The Llanberis Path and Snowdon Ranger route are both accessible directly from camp, making this the most practical overnight base for anyone planning an early start on the mountain. Moel Eilio is also walkable from the site, and Pen y Pass paths are reachable via the Sherpa bus from the village, a half mile away.
This is genuinely back-to-basics camping: sloping pitches on a hillside, coin-operated showers (£1 for 10 minutes), a kettle and microwave on site, and no frills beyond that. The setting is the offering. Yurt glamping is available for those who want a roof without committing to a tent, and the budget pricing reflects what the site is: a functional, well-located launchpad rather than a destination in itself.
Llanberis has pubs, cafes, and the Welsh Slate Museum within the half-mile walk, while Zipworld, Bounce Below, Dolbadarn Castle, and Caernarfon Castle are all nearby for days when the mountain is not the plan. Staff are consistently described as friendly and welcoming.
