Inver Coille

Family-run woodland site with direct Great Glen Way access, sitting four miles from Fort Augustus on the Loch Ness shoreline.

Inver Coille occupies a strip of Highland woodland along the A82, two miles from Invermoriston and four miles from Fort Augustus, with the Great Glen Way running directly through the site. That access point is the hook: walk out of your tent and you are immediately on one of Scotland's long-distance trails, with Loch Ness visible through the trees. The views from the site reach out over the loch toward the forested slopes on the far shore.

The site is tents-and-glamping only, which keeps the atmosphere right. Tent pitches sit under the canopy while geodomes, a timber tent, and a bell tent offer a step up in comfort without changing the woodland character. Facilities are modern and well maintained, showers and toilets included, with a small shop and communal fire pits. A playground makes it work for families with young children. The host presence is clearly strong, which shows in how the site handles its guests.

Fort Augustus at the southern end of Loch Ness is four miles by road and worth the trip. Invermoriston is closer, at two miles, with waterfalls and a characterful old bridge. A bus service runs past the site on the A82, which makes car-free exploring the loch corridor genuinely feasible. The site opens from April through September.

Before you book

  • Midges are a genuine hazard through summer in this part of the Great Glen; bring repellent and a head net.
  • Road noise from the A82 is audible at night, particularly on pitches closest to the road.
A well-run Highland base that earns its reputation through friendly owners, clean facilities, and a position that puts you on the Great Glen Way without lifting a finger.
