Immervoulin Caravan & Campsite
A proper riverside base inside the Trossachs, with the River Balvaig running along the edge and a national park on every side.
Immervoulin sits just outside Strathyre on the banks of the River Balvaig, inside Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. The setting is the whole point: mountains behind, river in front, forest walks accessible from the site boundary. Loch Lubnaig is a mile away on foot, and the Rob Roy Way and Ben Sheanne routes leave from the same patch of ground.
The river is genuinely usable. Guests swim from the bank on hot days, fish from the edge, and launch kayaks without a drive. The site sits on SSSI-protected land where otter habitat meets the park boundary, so the wildlife calendar runs alongside the camping one. Callander, 9 miles south, covers the practical side: shops, pubs, cafes.
There are 70 hardstanding pitches with electric hook-ups for tourers, plus a large level grass area taking around 60 tents. Showers, loos, laundry, and a site shop are on site. The host Maureen is present and helpful: straightforward, friendly, and practically useful from arrival. Dogs are welcome throughout. Open March to October.
Before you book
- Phone signal is very poor on site; Wi-Fi reaches only to the main reception area near the entrance.
- Showers are coin-operated (20p tokens, exchangeable at reception) and run for roughly two minutes per coin.
- The valley funnels strong gusts at times; pitches near the river can get exposed wind on unsettled days.
“Immervoulin earns its place in the national park catalogue through honest river access and a setting that delivers regardless of the weather. Facilities are functional rather than impressive, but the location does the heavy lifting.”
