Hendre Farmhouse Orchard Campsite
A small, well-kept orchard campsite a few yards from Offa's Dyke Path, with river meadow views and a proper communal kitchen for long-distance walkers.
Hendre Farmhouse Orchard Campsite sits in a valley outside Monmouth, overlooking river meadows and sheep-grazed hillsides. The site is only a few yards from Offa's Dyke Path, which makes it a natural stop for walkers covering the long-distance trail. Monmouth itself is ten minutes by car and worth the trip: a genuine market town with pubs, shops, and independent character.
The communal facilities here do real work. Campers share a fridge, freezer, kettle, toaster, and microwave, which is a genuine asset for long-stay walkers who don't want to cook over a stove every meal. Fire pits are available for those who do, with wood available on site. The pitches look out over a pond and across the meadows, and the grounds include picnic benches placed to make the most of the view. Kirsty, the owner, is hands-on and well-regarded for keeping the site in good order.
For day trips, Tintern Abbey, the Forest of Dean, and the Brecon Beacons are each around half an hour away. Canoeing and rock climbing are also available in and around Monmouth for campers who want something more active. The season runs April through September.
Before you book
- The lane to the site is narrow with passing places and will be a challenge for caravans unless you are confident reversing on a tight road.
