Doward Park Campsite
A family-run woodland campsite on top of Great Doward, where the Wye Valley AONB is your back garden and Symonds Yat is a trail-length away.
Doward Park sits on the Great Doward ridge between Ross-on-Wye and Monmouth, inside the Wye Valley AONB. The woodland is the point: pitches are tucked into the trees, cars are kept away from the camping areas except at arrival and departure, and the walking starts the moment you leave your pitch.
The site leans properly family. A well-stocked shop, clean shower and toilet blocks maintained through the day, a playground, and spacious pitches that give families room to breathe. It takes tents, campervans, motorhomes, and caravans alongside a handful of bell tents for those who want the woodland delivered without the kit. Electric hookups are available across the site. The team are owner-present and genuinely helpful, the kind of staff who know the local canoeing outfitters and the riverside pubs worth the steep climb back up.
Symonds Yat and the River Wye are accessible on foot from the site, along with mountain biking trails and forest paths through the surrounding nature reserves. The site is well-placed for a few days of active Wye Valley exploration, with Monmouth and Ross-on-Wye both an easy drive for supplies.
Before you book
- The climb back up to the site from the riverside is genuinely steep, good to know before booking with mobility concerns or heavy gear.
