Medley Meadow

A conservation-minded family glamping site on nine acres of Monmouthshire meadow, halfway between the Wye Valley and the Brecon Beacons.

Medley Meadow sits in the rolling countryside of Monmouthshire, positioned between the Wye Valley and Brecon Beacons National Park. The field slopes south, with views of hills beyond the treeline, and the nine acres of meadow and woodland are managed with genuine conservation intent: wildlife is the co-resident, not an afterthought.

Five accommodation units keep this deliberately small: four safari tents and a restored train cabin, each with a private bathroom, fire pit, and a deck for breakfast or an evening drink. Tents are spaced far enough apart that you genuinely feel alone on the land. Owner Louise is present and hands-on, the kind of host who gets in touch ahead of arrival and checks in without hovering. Previous guests report little treats left on return from day trips.

The surrounding area rewards time. Award-winning pubs are close by, hill walks start from the doorstep, and the broader Monmouthshire landscape has castles, abbeys, vineyards, canals, and historic towns within reach. It is a genuine base for a couple of days of exploring, or equally a reason to stay put and watch the birds come and go.

One of the more thoughtfully run glamping sites in south-east Wales: small enough to feel personal, well-placed for Wye Valley and Brecon day trips, with an owner who clearly cares about the land and the experience.
