Green Acres Farm Camp Site

Green Acres sits right on the edge of Shotover Country Park, a 100-hectare former royal hunting ground that climbs to hilltop views across south Oxfordshire. The site is genuinely farm-set, and the access to 250 miles of woodland trails from your pitch is the thing that sets it apart from the dozens of competent campsites within range of a city like Oxford.

The pitch range is wide: traditional grass tent pitches and caravan hardstanding at the lower end, glamping domes with wood-fired hot tubs and sauna at the other. The domes are the draw for couples wanting to actually do Oxford properly, arriving Sunday, spending two nights, and spending an afternoon on the Cherwell rather than in a car park. Three pubs in Horspath village are within walking distance, including the Queen's Head and the Chequers, with the Oxford Brewery also reachable on foot.

The camping facilities are functional rather than glossy, with basic shower and toilet provision that is improving rather than finished. For the glamping domes, that is beside the point. For traditional campers, the trade is views and location for a degree of roughness at the amenity block. It is worth knowing: the site can pick up group noise at weekends.
