Great Cotmarsh is a certified organic, pasture-fed livestock farm in North Wiltshire where the pitch count has been deliberately kept to four tent spots and a couple of tipis. That restraint is the whole point: you get the panoramic Marlborough Downs views, the silence, and the unhurried welcome from hosts Katie and James without feeling like you're sharing it with a car park's worth of strangers.

The farm sits at the edge of the Downs, with footpaths leading out from the gate into local meadows and onto the White Horse Trail. Avebury stone circle is within easy reach. The facilities are honest and well-maintained: compost toilets, a proper shower, a kitchen area for washing up, and a wood-fired pizza oven that reviewers consistently single out. Order burgers and lamb with a day's notice, fire up the grill, and the evening sorts itself.

The glamping option is a two-bedroom Shepherd's Hut with its own private toilet and shower, and the tipis are a full family-sized alternative to tent camping. Broad Town Brewery and Hop Garden is less than a mile away for a post-walk pint.
