Beryl's Campsite

Liz's valley campsite on the South West Coast Path: well-spaced pitches, Beesands beach on foot, and the kind of quiet that only arrives when you're truly off the beaten road.

Beryl's sits in a shallow South Devon valley with the South West Coast Path running past the gate, and Beesands beach roughly 20 minutes on foot along the cliffs. The nearest town is Kingsbridge; the nearest noise is the sea at night. Liz has been running this place for the best part of 30 years and the operation has the unhurried confidence that only comes from someone who's stopped trying to impress.

Pitches are properly spaced across two fields, with a mix of sun and shade, and the whole site is fed by fresh spring water. Facilities are clean to an almost improbable degree given the rustic setting: showers, a washup area, recycling, a small honesty shop with a fridge and freezer, and a handful of electric hookups. There's device charging at the info point and 4G from the mast up the hill, which feels both convenient and slightly absurd given how removed the place feels.

The Cricket Inn at Beesands is a 15-20 minute walk and worth booking ahead. Bantham and South Milton Sands are within comfortable driving distance for days on the bigger sandy beaches. Stock up before you arrive: there's nothing close by beyond the honesty shop.

Before you book

  • Access is down very narrow Devon lanes, expect single-track roads for the last stretch.
  • Showers are coin-operated (20p/min), so bring change or small notes.
One of South Devon's most quietly assured campsites: Liz runs it with obvious care, the coast path is at your door, and Beesands is a short walk away.
