Fernwood Glamping (New Forest)
Two-pitch glamping on the New Forest fringe where Rachel turns a field view into a genuinely personal stay.
Fernwood is a two-pitch glamping site in the large garden of a family home on the edge of Ringwood, just inside the New Forest. The choice is between a hand-painted gypsy caravan and a shepherd's hut, 25 metres apart, each sleeping two adults plus two young children. Both come with fire pits; the shepherd's hut has a wood-burning stove and stays open well into winter.
The field behind backs onto open countryside where deer regularly appear at dusk, and buzzards drift overhead in the afternoons. Ringwood's shops and chip shop are a five-minute walk. Mudeford Quay is a 25-minute drive for a beach day, and traffic-free cycling routes across open forest and through woodland start nearby.
Rachel and Jonathan run the place with a level of attentiveness that shows up in small things: a breakfast hamper, marshmallows for the fire, washing-up done for you if you ask nicely. There's a treehouse, rope swing, summerhouse overlooking a pond, and a chance to meet the resident rabbits. It's the kind of host-led glamping where the owners' care is the amenity, not just the accommodation.
