Draughton Heights

Owner-run site on the southern fringe of the Yorkshire Dales with panoramic Aire Valley views, habitat lakes, and pods that stay warm in winter.

Draughton Heights sits along the Dales High Way on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, high enough above the valley floor to catch far-reaching views across the Aire Valley and the three habitat lakes that now define the lower ground. Skipton, with its castle and market, is a ten-minute drive; Ilkley and the moor are fifteen minutes the other way.

Richard and Lesley run it with visible investment in the detail: showers are spotlessly clean, the kitchen block includes a kettle, and guests stopping in winter have noted the owners checking in on them. The site is still taking shape, with finishing works ongoing, which means it has the energy of somewhere becoming rather than somewhere settled. The pods are warm and well-fitted; the habitat lakes are already a draw for paddlers and wild swimmers, with a sauna on the way.

Pitches cover tents, caravans, motorhomes, and glamping pods, so it works equally well for a family in a tourer or a couple after a pod with a view. The Dales are at the door for walking, and the site itself is spacious enough that nothing feels crowded.
