Camp Cynrig Glamping Retreat Brecon
Three-unit glamping retreat in Bannau Brycheiniog National Park, run by Rob and Sara with the kind of attentive care that turns first-timers into repeat visitors.
Camp Cynrig sits in a gently sloping valley beside the River Cynrig, a few minutes from Brecon, with the dark skies of an International Dark Sky Reserve overhead and Pen Y Fan visible on the horizon. The site offers just three units: two bell tents with shepherd's hut kitchenettes and an eco cabin fitted with gas hob, pizza oven, bunk beds, and a bucket shower out back. Small by design, the whole place can be hired together for groups.
The river running along the bottom of the site is the natural draw: paddling, swimming, or simply listening to it from your tent at night. The on-site woodland walk and proximity to Cantref Adventure Farm (a two-minute walk) give families plenty to work with without leaving the valley. Canoe trips on the Wye, the Bannau Brycheiniog waterfall trail, and Pen Y Fan are all within easy reach of Brecon town, a ten-minute drive.
Facilities are more considered than the rustic look suggests: warm showers, separate toilets per unit, electricity, fire pits with grills, BBQ area, ice blocks available on site, hammocks, and a shared breakfast area up the top of the field. Rob and Sara are on hand, attentive without hovering. The quirky details throughout the site, from the chicken run to the hammocks, speak to owners who actually care about the experience rather than the operation.

“A family-run retreat that earns its reputation through owner care and a setting that keeps guests coming back year after year. The national park valley location, riverside access, and dark skies overhead make this one of the stronger small-scale glamping picks in South Wales.”
