Cwmffrwd Farm Campsite
A working farm deep in the Bannau Brycheiniog with wildflower meadows, a private sauna, and valley views that earn the drive.
Cwmffrwd Farm sits within the Bannau Brycheiniog Brecon Beacons National Park, on a hillside above the Black Mountains, inside a designated Dark Sky Reserve. Tent pitches run along the top of the camping fields and look straight down the valley; van, roof-tent and car pitches sit at the bottom with the surrounding peaks close on every side. The two aspects are genuinely different experiences from the same farm.
Hosts Pridie and James have built something quietly considered here: wildflower meadows, working horses and cattle sharing the land, wheelbarrows to move your kit, and a private sauna with a cold plunge that draws visitors from further afield than just overnight campers. The sauna comfortably fits three but can hold six, and the hosts keep it at a proper temperature. Bell tents are also available, including a butterfly bell tent with a futon double bed, camp beds and hot water bottles for cooler nights.
The farm is the starting point for the Cambrian Way long-distance route, and the hosts are genuinely knowledgeable about the surrounding area: hill walking, mountain biking and horse riding are all on the doorstep. The nearest pub is around 30 minutes away, which tells you something about how remote this is. Pitch numbers are kept deliberately limited so the site never feels crowded.
