Cwmyrhidyll

A 30-acre Carmarthenshire smallholding run by Tim and Lisa with owner-present warmth, spotless facilities, and dark skies that earn the reputation.

Cwmyrhidyll sits on the outskirts of Salem Village, three miles from Llandeilo, on a 30-acre smallholding enclosed by trees and open to the hills. The valley setting does most of the work: a stream threads through the surrounding fields, views open across the Carmarthenshire countryside, and once the lights go out the sky is, by several accounts, spectacular.

The owners, Tim and Lisa, are the site's other defining quality. They greet arrivals in person, show guests around, maintain the facilities to a standard that repeatedly catches reviewers off-guard, and sell firewood when you run out. There are two shower cubicles and two toilet blocks, both kept spotless; a washing-up area with drinking water; and a mix of electric hookup hardstanding and open grass pitches. The combination suits tourers and tent campers equally without either feeling like an afterthought.

Brechfa Forest mountain biking trails are close by, Llandeilo's cafes and restaurants are a short drive, and the Brecon Beacons are accessible to the north. The Angel pub is within easy reach for an evening off-site. A Co-op and petrol station sit on the same road, five minutes away, so logistics are straightforward.

A small, owner-led site where the hosts and the hill views do the heavy lifting, the kind of place you go back to.
