Bycross Farm Campsite

A riverside farm campsite on the Wye where the orchard pitches, on-site canoes, and evening pizza make it genuinely hard to leave.

Bycross Farm sits alongside the River Wye in Herefordshire, roughly halfway between Hereford and Hay-on-Wye. The Old Apple Orchard is the star pitch: a beautifully kept area of trees and lush grass right at the water's edge, with enough room between pitches to feel like you have the orchard to yourself. The Camping Field gives you a wider open alternative if you want more sky.

The river is the reason to come. Hereford Kayak Canoe operate from the site, so you can hire a canoe or paddle board without driving anywhere. The Wye here is calm enough to paddle upstream and drift back, and easy to wade in for a swim. The Wye Valley Walk also passes close by, so non-paddlers have something to step out to in the morning.

The shop and on-site pizza (order before lunchtime at weekends) round out a site that doesn't need much else. The team brings around tea for canoe-trippers setting off early, and the local cider selection is taken seriously. Facilities are clean, the grounds are well-maintained, and the staff are genuinely warm. Bring pound coins for the showers.
