Penhale sits just outside Fowey on a working organic beef farm, and the setting is the whole argument for coming. From the pitches you look out across gentle rolling farmland to the coast, with St Austell Bay opening up beyond and Mevagissey's lights visible on clear evenings. Polkerris Beach is a mile away on foot, with two good options for a drink: The Rashleigh and Sam's on the Beach, both right on the sand. Fowey itself is a 50-minute walk through farmland and woods.
