Little Oak Campsite

Little Oak sits on two acres of field and wild garden just outside Retford, in the North Nottinghamshire countryside that loosely trades on the Robin Hood name. Fifteen grass pitches with generous spacing means you're not fighting for elbow room, and four or five designated fire pits are spread across the paddock so you can choose your spot and settle in. A small wooded corner and hedgerow boundary take the edge off the open-field feel.

The owner is present and straightforward about it, which the site runs on: clean toilet block, hot showers, washing-up facilities kept to a functional standard rather than a spa standard, and a knock on the pitch if you need anything. Retford market town is within easy walking distance, with independent shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs if you want an evening out without driving.

For families there's a kids' play area, and the site takes motorhomes alongside tents. A single Romany-style glamping caravan rounds out the offer for those who want a roof without bringing one. Dogs are welcome throughout. Quiet hours kick in at 11pm.
