Fountain House Farm Campsite

A quietly honest East Yorkshire farm campsite where the working land is the experience, not a backdrop.

Fountain House Farm sits in Watton, halfway between Driffield and Beverley, on a proper working farm that has been taking campers since 2000. The pitch field is sheltered by a belt of trees that keeps the A164 at a respectful distance, and the nature trail through the farm's woodland walks past the resident sheep, pigs, chickens, and ducks. This is not countryside-branding: the animals are actually there.

Touring pitches are generously spaced with electric hookup available, while two barrel glamping units come with their own private shower and toilet, a comfortable double bed, seating inside and out, and shared use of the log-stacked fire pit and gas BBQ. A hot tub sits alongside. The barrel pods are a genuine step up from a basic pod-park: the hosts keep the facilities well, logs are plentiful, and the whole site reads as owner-run rather than managed.

Transport connections are unusually good for a rural campsite: the train station is a mile and a half away and the bus stop is across the road, which makes this a rare option for car-free campers. Driffield Show Ground is on the doorstep, and both Driffield and Beverley town centres are close enough for an evening out without a long drive.

Before you book

  • Cash only on site.
  • Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead throughout.
A reliable family farm with more substance than the modest Google count suggests: honest working land, well-kept facilities, and a barrel pod setup that works equally well for couples wanting a hot tub night as for families watching the farm come to life on the nature trail.

Why it made the cut

  • Family-run since 2000 with genuine working farm character: animals, woodland walk, and lakes on site
  • Barrel glamping pods come with private facilities and a proper fire pit, not a token glamping add-on
  • Unusually good public transport access for a rural setting: train 1.5 miles, bus across the road
  • Pitches well spaced, trees buffer road noise, consistently well-kept according to guest accounts
