Fire and Stars Woodland Camping

Private woodland pitches in the National Forest, each with its own fire pit, plus a wood-fired sauna and cold plunge for when the logs burn low.

Fire and Stars sits inside 48 acres of National Forest woodland in Leicestershire, on the edge of Newton Burgoland. Pitches are spread far enough through the trees that you genuinely cannot see your neighbours, and every one comes with a dedicated fire pit. That combination of canopy and fire makes the place feel considerably wilder than its postcode might suggest.

The owners have invested in extras that reward staying put: a wood-fired sauna paired with cold plunge pools, a disc golf course winding through the trees, and a site shop stocked well enough that you needn't leave. Woodland paths run to over 8km within the site's own boundaries. Phone signal is patchy, which guests tend to report as a feature rather than a fault.

The Old Crown pub is a short walk from the site entrance and has its own outdoor play area, doubling as the place to grab a shower if you prefer one to chemical toilets. Host Andy is on hand and well-regarded. Families with children have plenty of space to roam safely; couples find the pitch privacy makes it work as a proper escape too.

Before you book

  • Toilets on site are chemical; showers are at the nearby pub rather than a dedicated on-site block.
One of the more honest woodland camping experiences in the Midlands: proper tree cover, a fire pit that is yours alone, and a sauna to justify staying a third night.

Why it made the cut

  • Every pitch sits inside the canopy with its own fire pit and genuine separation from neighbours
  • Wood-fired sauna and cold plunge pools add a considered post-hike ritual without tipping into spa-park territory
  • 8km of paths within the site means you can spend a full day exploring without getting in a car
  • Host present, well-run, and the kind of place that earns return visits
